It’s that time of year again. August 26. National Dog Day; a day “to bring attention to the plight of animals and encourage adoption.” The organisation behind the day partnered with Twitter, Polaroid Swing and a handful of other brands and organisations to mark the occasion. That’s why Twitter has released a whole new category of featured stickers. Dog-related ones of course.

The “We Love Dogs” category contains 8 stickers for users to use to celebrate their love for dogs. They include (predictably), a bone, a monocle and top hat (what?), a flying disc, a dog collar, and others. They are designed to fit on images of your pets, but, with a little imagination they can also be used for anything really.
Some Twitter users were less than thrilled.
Released earlier in the summer, stickers are not only clickable, they’re also searchable hashtags; users can click or tap on them and find other users who are also using them as well. Twitter also recently launched promoted stickers, with Pepsi as the first brand to use the feature.
