It’s clear that people like to share funny or entertaining content on Facebook, but what are the reasons that they share what they share? Content marketing agency Fractl has the answer after surveying over 2,000 Facebook users to find out what motivates them to share things on the biggest social network.
So, the main reason that people shared things on Facebook is to entertain people – 48% said they shared things that others will find interesting. 17% of respondents said they share things that inform their friends about what they are interested in. On the other hand 13% of respondents said that they shared something that would cause their friends to feel something… happiness, sadness, anger, etc.

Despite the above results, men and women were more likely to share different content for different reasons. For example, women are more likely to share content for an emotion response. Informing their friends about how they feel is important to them. Men are more likely to share something to persuade their friends about something.
