Once upon a time, a hashtag was just a “pound” sign, or a “number” sign. Nowadays this “sign” has become one of the most used symbol online, ever since social media, starting with twitter, made of it a way to make text searchable!
And it went fast, it took less than 6 years from the first time it appeared on twitter, to the day where the largest social networking platform (i.e. Facebook) decided it should too use the # symbol.
