Netflix started 2019 strong by announcing the release date for Stranger Things 3. The beloved science fiction series will be back for its third season on July 4th.
It’s only day 1 of the new year but fans of Stranger Things already cannot wait for July, when the third season will be released. Netflix released a brief teaser along with the announcement, giving us quite a few cryptic hints.
It’s New Year’s Eve 1985 and as revelers have gathered around their TV to watch NYC’s celebrations, the new broadcast shows several interruptions with some strange intermissions from a government agency. Phrases like “when blue and yellow meet in the west” or terms like “SilverCatFeeds” appear. These senseless hints will no doubt trigger the wild imagination of many.
Netflix also dropped a poster on Twitter that has since been shared thousands of times. Under the “One summer can change everything” tagline, it showcases our favorite Hawkins residents. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) seem like they’re still growing strong, holding each other’s hands and surrounded by their friends as 4th of July fireworks explode in the distance. Yet, the look on Eleven’s face casts a shadow on doubt: are things really as good as they seem? Probably not.
