Spotify is offering a new bundle to new and existing Premium subscribers, giving them free access to Hulu’s ad-supported tier. But you have to opt-in fast.
More and more people are switching away from traditional cable TV subscriptions, preferring the comfort and experience that on-demand and digital TV offer. Both are less expensive, contract-free, and generally speaking, more adapted to our modern lifestyles.
According to a recent Nielsen report, 16 million US households are now without traditional or satellite TV subscription, marking a 48% increase over the last eight years.
Spotify’s new partnership with Hulu is now another incentive for TV viewers to cut the cord with their cable or satellite providers. For the platforms, bundling their offering is also a great way to differentiate themselves from their biggest competitors: Apple Music, Netflix, and especially Amazon Prime, which offers both music and TV streaming services.
Starting today, existing Spotify Premium subscribers can activate the new bundle on the Your Services page. For the usual $9.99 a month Premium plan, they will now also gain access to all Hulu TV shows and movies through the Hulu ad-supported tier. That would represent a monthly saving of $5.99 if you were to subscribe to both services separately. The bundle will be automatically included in Spotify’s Premium free 30-day trial for new customers.
“The bundle is available in perpetuity to those who opt-in before June 10,” according to a Spotify spokesperson. But be careful, there is only a limited quantity of bundles (so sign up fast) and it is only available to US-based single Premium subscribers, not for the family plan (which lets you share your Premium account with up to 5 people for $14.99 per month.)
