Snapchat has a new feature, and Facebook has not copied it yet. Starting today, over 1 million public Stories are now searchable on Snapchat.
No matter what you are looking for, Snapchat may well be the right place to search for it. The new feature lets you search across over 1 million curated Stories that have been shared publicly by users and brands. And that is great news for content discovery.
Snapchat Stories search is powered by a new machine learning tech that can identify what’s happening in Stories. The system can then organise what it found and associate it with keywords. The tech can “read” words include in captions by users, but also elements of the image itself.
Of course, users will love using the new search feature. And advertisers are going to rejoice too: now the stories they publish have even more chances to reach the right audience.
The new Search feature is rolling out to a few select cities across the US for now, with other countries following soon.
