For anyone who really appreciates their music – especially while working in noisy environments – a great pair of noise cancelling wireless headphones is a must! Plantronics’ BackBeat Pro 2, are both of the above, and they’ve got the sound performance that makes them a great option!
You may be aware of the excellent and highly-rated Plantronics BackBeat Pro headphones. Plantronics now also makes the Pro 2 or Pro 2 special edition versions. These are what we’re looking at today. The BackBeat Pro 2s are wireless and noise cancelling, and feature a pair of 40mm speaker drivers that deliver rich bass, crisp highs and natural mid-tones in the right balance. With a frequency response of 20-20kHz, they out great immersive high-resolution sound.
On one charge, you can get up to 24 hours of wireless streaming, or a standby time of 6 whole months. They are built to save your battery consumption, with smart sensor technology that automatically pauses and resumes play or sends calls to/from the headphones when they are taken off or put back on. Their Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) can be switched on to keep any ambient noise to a bare minimum while you’re working, or traveling, but they also offer two boomless microphones with Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
When you do want to hear what’s going on around you just toggle the OpenMic.
They offer a wireless connection at a range of 330 feet(100 meters) with Bluetooth v4.0 with a variety of different connections for music controls, hands-free, etc. Also, multipoint technology allows for you to switch between two different Bluetooth devices. If you’re into wired listening, you can connect the optional 3.5mm audio cable.
For those of you who will be carrying them around with you, a rigid travel case is included. The ear cups are able to swivel flat for this. The only caveat here is that you will have to carry the travel case around with you if you want to protect them while traveling. They are however very light, at just 11 grams shy of 300. Their weight also makes them an attractive options for those who will wear them for many hours during the day. Less bulk, less weight and a perfect fit on your head ensures the best experience.
As a competitor to other similar products like the Sony MDR 1000x, or the Beoplay H9, the BackBeat Pro 2 headphones look, feel, and sound the part. They’re built really nicely, and offer the same features at a lower price point. Noise cancelling is not on par with the competition, but it’s actually pretty good. The Special Edition Pro 2 also get NFC to help you pair them with your devices.
