Pinterest launched promoted Pins just over two years ago, and has since worked very hard to increase the different types of promoted Pins out there, but also to make them feel more relevant to users. Following the addition of a “promote” button for Pins, Pinterest is rolling out three new types of promoted Pins, and also making them available in the UK.

One-tap Pins are exactly what their name suggests. You tap on them just once, to go to the “site it came from so you can quickly learn more.” Having tested them, Pinterest has seen a great interest from users. In fact, the company says that it has seen nearly twice as many users “finding items to buy” through one-tap Pins.
One-tap Pins aren’t available to all however. Only a select few businesses can use them for now.
Pinterest is introducing promoted video Pins, that play natively within Pinterest. Now, there’s no need to leave the platform to watch a video. It can be watched right there on Pinterest.
The video Pin will also feature a selection of related ideas or products to buy. Obviously these will be the products seen in a video.
Pinterest is also introducing the app Pin to help users “find out about the apps and app-makers [they] want to hear about most.” App Pins lead to the relevant app store for users to download the app to their device.
