Periscope announced this week that it is updating its app with three new features that are designed to increase engagement on stream replays.
Following the launch of new anti-abuse features earlier this month, Periscope is upgrading its live-broadcasting app with the ability to pick a thumbnail for streams, the ability to edit stream titles, and a feature allowing broadcasters to set a custom start point to their stream replays. All three features are aimed at increasing engagement on replays.
Pick A Thumbnail
Broadcasters now have the opportunity to pick a thumbnail that highlights the best part of their replay stream, while they’ve only been able to use the auto-generated thumbnail up until now. As you might already know, the thumbnail was auto-generated from the beginning of a video, so if said beginning didn’t feature something interesting enough a replay was stuck with a boring thumbnail.

Edit The Title
The ability to also edit the title of a stream once the broadcast itself has ended is another new feature part of the latest update. While we think that it’s a no-brainer that this feature should have already been available for years, it is now.
Set A Custom Start Point
The third new feature from the latest update is the ability for Periscope broadcasters to set their own start point for viewers to jump right into the most exciting part. This is especially useful for streamers whose broadcasts don’t begin “with a bang.” Some may wait for viewers to join a broadcast before beginning.
While all of the new features are rather minor, they are great additions for broadcasters at this time. They are available to use at the end of any broadcast, provided that the latest version of the app.
