“Selfie” might have been Word of the Year 2013, but it is actually “so 2016”. Especially now that we have selfie apps with filters, and face swapping and all those other things that help users get creative with their selfies. Selfies have never been as popular as they are today, and it seems like a new selfie app is released every two days. Cue Egg, a new selfie app from Line.
Egg is similar to other very popular selfie apps like Snapchat or Facebook-owned MSQRD. Users take their selfie and then add filters and special effects to their videos or images. They can then share their creations with their friends.

They can also use 3D masks, in real-time, that they can either browse or create on their own. Some of the ready 3D masks offer special effects to move with a user’s facial features. When creating their own masks, users can also apply effects to their creations.
What app wouldn’t be complete without face swapping? As creepy as it looks, people love it, so Line included it of course in the app. Just like any other selfie app, users can either save their creations or share them to Facebook, Instagram, or Line (of course).
If you’re curious to see what egg is all about you can download it for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
