Instagram was born as a mobile app, but the platform has definitely been taking care of its web version lately. About a month ago, Instagram rolled out a new beautifully designed website and recently we found out that the platform was now storing high resolution images.
Today, Instagram is again rolling out a very nice addition to its web version: search.

Search really was the missing bit on Instagram’s website. But this is now a thing of the past, as Instagram announced on Twitter today:

Yes, you can now search for anything from hashtags, locations and even usernames right from the website. And the results have their own beautifully designed one pager.

Instagram did not explain why it took them so long to bring such a basic and important feature to the web. The only comment is that Instagram.com is – and probably will always be – a complementary platform to the mobile app. Nevertheless, we are quite happy to see the changes brought to the website.
