Instagram is no longer an indie, artsy social network. While Facebook left it intact for a while following its acquisition, the world’s favourite photo-sharing network is now flooded with ads, and rest assured more will soon follow.
Recent reports have stated that Instagram is now looking to implement a boost post option, so that advertisers can take advantage of instant post promotion with just a few clicks. The same sources claim that, although there’s no official announcement on Instagram’s end, programmers managed to decompile the platform’s latest code and found some snippets that could indicate that the social network is looking into creating a “Boost Post” functionality.

This move would make sense. For small- and medium-size business owners who want to use Instagram’s ads, without having to spend much time and effort, a single-click promotion of a post could provide them with some much-needed exposure to the right audience. Given that Facebook and Instagram still share the same ad platform, it should also be expected that boosted posts on Instagram could work the same way they do on Facebook.
Also, the new in-app analytics that Instagram is currently trying, will make sure that advertisers get the results they expect, and have better control over targeting and budget-spend.
