You knew it as a super successful, thought-provoking Page on Facebook. Humans of New York is now ready to take over your Facebook feed as well, with a series of videos.
Some background first: Brandon Stanton, a photographer with a talent for captivating human stories, started his photography project seven years ago. According to his website, the initial goal was to “photograph 10,000 New Yorkers on the street, and create an exhaustive catalogue of the city’s inhabitants.”
What looks like a billion likes after that, this phenomenon is ready to develop further into video series, in an exclusive partnership with Facebook through its newly launched Watch platform – a dedicated space to follow shows and a major blow to traditional TV.
Facebook has provided the perfect fit for this online project that has long been in-the-making. As a Facebook post from HONY suggests, more than 1,200 interviews have been filmed during the course of the past 4 years – with the help of cinematographer Michal Crommett.
Humans of New York: The Series has already debuted on a separate channel within Facebook, and already hosts two videos from the first season. Catch them all here.
