Ah February, with your temperatures so low they could rival mortgage repayments in the US circa 2008. Who’s been cold? I’ve been cold! Nelly should get his act together and record a “Cold out therrrrr”…No?

Anyway, here’s a warming social media wrap up – mashup – stew.
The Misremembering of Mr Brian Williams
Twitter’s favourite hashtag this week was #BrianWilliamsMisremembers. Why is this you ask? Well ok, I will tell you. Brian Williams, NBC news anchor and one of the most popular faces on US TV, has had to publicly apologise for “misremembering” an incident that happened 12 years ago. Said incident was the story that a helicopter he was in when covering the war in Iraq in 2003 was shot down. The apology comes after several veterans took to the internet to publicly dispute Mr Williams’ presence in said helicopter.
I want to apologise. I said I was travelling in an aircraft that was hit by RPG [rocket-propelled grenade] fire. I was instead in a following aircraft.” And more “I think the constant viewing of the video showing us inspecting the impact area — and the fog of memory over 12 years — made me conflate the two, and I apologize.
I completely empathise, after watching The Notebook a good few times, I knew I had a whirlwind romance with Ryan Gosling and he was building a house. Whilst sporting a beard. I wasn’t, he was. It was wonderful.

Facebook Free February Anyone?
Ok, don’t panic but after Alcohol Free January you are facing…Facebook Free February! “Stroll, don’t scroll” and “login to you” are the slogans of the campaign aimed at freeing up your time and allowing you to focus on real interactions and real experiences.
I don’t know about you but I simply must upload my “Happy Friday” post every week or else my friends will be disappointed. Then I won’t have ANY real ones. And you all need to share the Mashup – obviously – and thanks for that by the way (I owe you a cookie).
It does have a positive side to it though as FFF is supporting Soar, a charity that develops and delivers wellness workshops to troubled teenagers across Ireland. See more here www.soar.ie and decide.
Bragging Welcome
Hey, you know all the Instagram selfies from exotic locations, riding on dolphins and generally dripping in designer? They might soon migrate over to Brag. A new app that “takes the modesty out of Facebook and Instagram”. If you ask me this will also be the dazzling playground for the not-so-subtle marketers after a hard sell. Endorsements will FLY.

Staying in the new dimension, a tool called Vine Masher will take your 6 second video addiction to the next level. It essentially lets you create a linkable playlist of Vines. You can also search and view mashups other users have uploaded. You just create an account, link it to Twitter and as they used to say in Ancient Greece – “Let the sharing begin!”
See you on the flip side!
Or next Friday, just make it next Friday.
