LinkedIn is following Facebook’s footsteps releasing yet another standalone app that aims at being your office assistant. Its latest release is named Lookup and it helps you find info about your colleagues at work.

The app comes in all two major formats: Desktop and Mobile app. To use it you will need a LinkedIn account – kind of obvious. Once installed, users will be able to lookup colleagues by name, title, skill expertise and many more. You will, however, need to provide your work email, in order for the app to send you a verification code.
You can use Lookup to connect with colleagues who are hard to find, or prepare ahead of a meeting, a feature than can prove to be really helpful, especially when working in big organisations. More specifically, once you sign up with your work email, a list of coworkers already using the app will appear. From there, you can start your search!
According to VentureBeat and to Ankit Gupta, cofounder of Pulse and senior product manager at LinkedIn, the idea for a standalone app originates from a study that showed a strong demand from LinkedIn users to learn more about their coworkers.
