Facebook often adds custom features to help people mark different special days during the year. Most recently, Mother’s Day on May 14, with personalised cards, new themed masks and frames for photos, a “thankful” reaction on posts, and more.
Nobody denies the importance our moms; without them, our very existence wouldn’t be possible. And so, Facebook reminds us that we should all celebrate May 14 – Mother’s Day – by offering some new special themed features, that drive a huge amount of engagement on the platform. In a recent Facebook post, the company says that last year’s Mother’s Day “drove more posts in one day than any other topic on Facebook, with more than 105 million Mother’s Day posts” and over 850 million photos and videos shared by users.
This year, Facebook gave all sons and daughters the opportunity to show their moms that they are thankful and “appreciate everything they do,” by sending a personalised card to them or sharing the message. Cards could be personalised with any photo on mobile.
Users were also able to access some new Mother’s Day-themed masks and frames in Facebook Camera. In addition to the above, users could show their thanks, by using the “thankful” reaction on Facebook.
Finally, Facebook also brought Mother’s Day-themed Stickers to Instagram, and allowed people to start fundraisers or donate to causes in honour of their moms.
