We’re tired of writing it and you’re probably tired of reading too; but, Facebook video is all the rage. The latest proof is that Facebook has just hired CollegeHumor Co-Founder, Ricky Van Veen.
In case you have been living under a rock for the past few years, CollegeHumor features daily original comedy videos and articles created in addition to user-submitted videos, pictures, articles and links. On YouTube, its channel has reached almost 4 billion views, and over 10 million subscribers. We’re talking about a LOT of video!

Van Veen is joining Facebook, as Head of Global Creative Strategy, a bespoke role that was created especially for him. We’re pretty sure that his experience accumulated throughout the years and his business acumen will bring even more solutions, partnerships and, eventually, revenue. Facebook will provide the platform and the technology, while Van Veen will provide new, creative ways for content creators and brands to exploit and explore.
But this is also another sign that we are shifting towards a visual-only era of content. Will written content manage to survive? Well, we’ll cover that in another article!
