Amazon has launched the first portable battery-powered Echo-branded smart speaker in India. The device can last up to 10 hours on a single charge.
“Portability has been one of the most requested features in India. You want to be able to carry Alexa with you from room to room within your homes. So we have designed something just for you,” explains Amazon’s VP of Alexa Devices, Miriam Daniel.
The Echo Input Portable Smart Speaker Edition (official name) functions like any other Echo device. The core difference is in its built-in 4,800mAh battery that gives users up to 10 hours of usage without the need for it to be continuously plugged into a power source.

For now, the Amazon Echo Input Portable Smart Speaker Edition will exclusively be available in India for Rd 5,999 (~$84), which is about $21 more than the third-gen Echo Dot. Amazon says it will eventually make its way to other countries, like the United States, but didn’t specify a timeline.
